Admissions Overview

The goal of the ECHS recruitment and enrollment processes is to identify, recruit, and enroll students whose personal or family circumstances might otherwise create insurmountable barriers to attending college and earning a college diploma. Enrollment decisions are not based on state assessment scores, disciplinary history, teacher recommendation, parent or student essays, minimum grade point average (GPA), or other criteria that create barriers for student enrollment.

The Early College Program is especially interested in enrolling first generation college goers, students of low socioeconomic status, African American, Hispanic, and Native American students.

To be admitted to the Early College program you must complete the application by its due date. A list of interview and information sessions will be posted on this website. Late applications are considered on a case by case basis. Please contact the Early College Coordinator, Caitlin Beauford at cbeauford@dallasisd.org to find out more information.

Applicant Requirements

  • Must demonstrate the desire and tenacity to complete an accelerated course of study.
  • Must be in the 8th grade going into 9th grade.
  • Must understand the academic and behavior expectations of the Early College program.
  • Must interview with Early College staff.

We will accept 9th grade applications of students who wish to enter the program in their 10th grade year. However, the requirements are much more stringent for such students.

It is highly advised that the student apply while still in the 8th grade to have the best chance of successfully completing the Early College Program.

Students who are in their 11th or 12th grade year are not eligible to apply.
